Hoboken Police responded to Birch at 92 River St. around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26, following reports of an assault, according to Sgt. Robert Roman.

When officers arrived, they found New Jersey Transit Police and bar security struggling to subdue a man, later identified as Abraham Knowlton, 23, of Skillman, authorities said. Video of Knowlton's arrest was published by Transparency Bodycam.

An on-scene investigation revealed that Knowlton had punched a woman outside the bar, police said. When a bouncer stepped in to help, Knowlton allegedly punched him too. He then swung at another bouncer—but missed, investigators said.

Officers placed Knowlton under arrest and transported him to Hoboken Police Headquarters, where he was charged with disorderly conduct and released on a summons, police said.
